ArtMalaysia Art Tourism Fair (AATF 2014)

Thursday, 7 August 2014
Theme: Now Art is for Everyone
The countdown for the 2nd edition of ArtMalaysia Art Tourism Fair 2014 is just a stone's throw away. Many things are happening at the moment with lots of dealings with contractors on the exhibition booths, checking for signage within the radius of Viva Home Shopping Mall to have a clear direction towards the exhibition hall. By next week, international art galleries and artists will arrive to make their necessary preparations.
ArtMalaysia Art Tourism Fair 2014 poses as a platform for an international art exchange programme with Bali (Indonesia), Shiraz (Iran) and Cebu (Philippines) whereby art and culture are shared between these participating countries with our fellow Malaysian artists.

When I started as a young art collector many years ago, my pocket is not deep enough to collect renowned artworks. Hence, I would only buy paintings that suit my minimal budget; nevertheless these paintings would speak to me well while feeding my passion for art. With that budget, I was purchasing works of art from emerging artists. As the year passed by, my income increased and it gave me a wider budget to continue my purchase of art from the emerging artists. However, the former emerging artists also have advanced in their artworks along the years and their selling prices have elevated in the art market. So, that ignited the first fire and burning desire of my passion in investing in art.
AATF 2014 serves the same concept for all young art collectors to establish their relationships with all emerging artists because both young art collectors and emerging artists are in the process of growing together.

AATF 2014 is just one and a half month away that is happening at Viva Home International Art Exhibition Hall. This year, we have an improved participation rate from local and international artists, art associations and art galleries. Last year, we had organised an international art exchange programme to Seoul (Korea). This year around, we have additional participating countries in Shiraz (Iran), Bali (Indonesia) and Cebu (Philippines).
I have done my regular visits to all participants. They are in the midst of framing their paintings. I have also made my calls to international participants and they are almost done with their artworks framing and flight reservations. I'm expecting a higher turnout from art lovers and a better boost of sales, this coming August in this international art fair.
See you there!

Our 1st ArtMalaysia Art Tourism Fair that was held last year functioned as a platform to make art accessible for young art collectors. The primary objective was to promote young emerging artists, art galleries that represent artists and also international art exchange with overseas art associations. All of these were summed up with a simple objective - to promote and sell works of art ranging from RM1, 000- RM30, 000 with the theme Now Art is for Everyone. Our art fair was welcomed with participation from art associations, overseas art galleries as well as local art galleries to represent the artists. We were astonished that the result was very well received and encouraging with immense support given by art collectors and art enthusiasts. The sales of artwork had also indicated that there is a good potential for young art collectors to afford buying paintings at this price range.
This year, we are receiving another overwhelming response from many local and international artists. They find it increasingly harder to seek art galleries as their representatives. The current trend is that there is a huge availability of artists with few art galleries to actually host their solo exhibitions and promote their artworks. Due to this situation, many artists have come forward to take part in ArtMalaysia Art Tourism Fair 2014 and acquire their individual booths or converge with a group of fellow artists in exhibiting their works for this upcoming art fair. Nonetheless, we will also be witnessing international support from art associations and art galleries with participating artists from Iran, Korea and Bali, Indonesia.

This year around, we have quite a handful of new participating art galleries and art associations in our international art event, hence indicating that we are realising the theme of Now Art is For Everyone. It is also true that one doesn’t need a deep pocket to purchase art. These participating galleries and art associations have demonstrated support and they are adhering to a common belief that art is not only for the affluent crowd, but art can be affordable for all art enthusiasts from all walks of life. These buyers who can afford a range from RM1,000 – RM30,000 could be buying works of art to decorate a living room or purely for collection. Conclusively, the theme Now Art is for Everyone has taken flight to an established level.
