Big Pond

N Shantamathe

In 1986 I held my first art exhibition (Glimpses of a Fleeting Truth) with my cousin, in Seremban, Negri Sembilan.
Since then my path has taken various turns when I worked in a multinational advertising agency as a media buyer and later with another agency as a media planner. After almost more than 20 years of working in the media industry I left it all to pursue my passion for art.
In December 2011 I underwent a life-changing experience that resulted in a new form of complex drawings, the source of which I cannot explain. In the past I was a different kind of artist, dabbling in surreal expressions as I tried to communicate my search for truth.
My present drawings express itself in a language of abstract patterns. It communicates a meaning from an inner depth. It also gives viewers a freedom to share their own interpretations.
These abstract patterns challenge us to look at the deeper meanings that lie within and beyond our mind.
